Rhys Jones, who recently graduated from our MRS Advanced Certificate course, has won the coveted MRS Advanced Certificate in Market and Social Research Practice Award.
Jones, who is delighted to have won the 2020 award, said “I could not have done it without the invaluable support and guidance of the Research Academy. The expertise of the tutors, as well as their commitment to their students, was vital in ensuring that I was fully prepared and confident for the exam and the coursework.” As a student on the Research Academy’s online MRS Advanced Certificate course, Jones benefited from regular engagement with his dedicated personal tutor, access to a content-rich online learning environment, and a series of live online tutorials.
Research Academy MD Mia Lorenz says, “We’re so proud of Rhys! Beyond his innate talent as a researcher, he showed real grit in excelling at a demanding qualification while working full time. We were lucky to have him, and are grateful to the Welsh Parliament for choosing to have a number of their staff study with us.”

We’ll be there in September to cheer him on when he receives his trophy for the MRS Advanced Certificate in Market and Social Research Practice Award.”
As a Citizen Engagement Manager at the Welsh Parliament, Jones works closely with a number of its specialist committees, designing and facilitating engagement opportunities which directly inform the scrutiny process. Originally from the Swansea Valley, Rhys graduated in Law from Cardiff University before working in the legal sector for a number of years, most recently as the Development Executive at the Law Society’s Wales Office.
Sponsored by the Worshipful Company of Marketors, the MRS Advanced Certificate in Market and Social Research Practice Award is presented to the best-performing MRS Advanced Certificate candidate across the two assessment components, the exam and the coursework. Jones achieved outstanding results in both components, having been selected from among all of the candidates who entered the MRS Advanced Certificate June 2019 and January 2020 assessment rounds. It will be presented to him at the MRS Excellence Awards event in September, and comes with a certificate and a trophy.
