MRS Diploma in Market and Social Research Practice

MRS Diploma in Market and Social Research Practice

Step up to senior research roles with the MRS Diploma in Market and Social Research Practice.

What is the MRS Diploma in Market and Social Research Practice?  It is the leading international, postgraduate-level qualification for the research sector.

Who is the MRS Diploma for?  It is designed for mid-career researchers who want to deepen their knowledge of research practice and upgrade their credentials. The MRS Diploma is suitable for both client-side and agency-side researchers. If you want to advance your career and move up to the most senior positions, the MRS Diploma will give you the knowledge and confidence you need.

Why should I take the MRS Diploma? With so many new approaches to generating insight, senior researchers need the knowledge to judge when an approach is suitable (or not) and the skill to justify their choices coherently and confidently. Completing the MRS Diploma signals your expertise to employers and clients alike. Indeed, the MRS Diploma is so respected that leading agencies like Ipsos MORI and GfK help their staff gain it.

What will I learn?  Our course teaches you how to thoroughly evaluate traditional and new methods, to ensure that your research yields valuable insights and equip you to give persuasive explanations to clients and colleagues. You’ll develop a deep understanding of research theory and practice, design considerations, practical constraints and the latest developments in research, as well as hands-on management of research projects.

How long will it take?  With the Research Academy, you can gain this prestigious qualification in two years of part-time study. You’ll need to take four units in total: Units 1, 2 and 5 are mandatory, and you can choose between Units 3 and 4. Students typically take one unit per semester. Our courses are designed to fit around your work and family life.

What books and materials are needed? You’ll need to buy two to three books for each of the four MRS Diploma units. We provide all other required materials.

How is the MRS Diploma assessed? Units 1 and 5 are assessed via pen-and-paper exams while Units 2, 3 and 4 are each assessed through a written coursework assignment.

When does the course start? We offer the MRS Diploma once a year, starting in the third week of August. You can also opt to join in January – please give us a call to find out more. If you already hold the MRS Advanced Certificate, you can join our conversion course, which starts on October 1st each year.

Where will I study? Our MRS Diploma course is delivered online. It features online tutorials led by experienced tutors. These tutorials are recorded so if you miss one you can catch up easily. You’ll also have access to our interactive and supportive online learning environment, which features a discussion forum, video lectures, and various online activities.
